When Palestinians were blitzed by Israeli bombers for seven weeks in 2014, over a million people around the world marched over & over again in protests led & organized by Muslim activists. When the Rohingya were sustaining a blood-thirsty genocide at the hands of the Burmese Army in 2017, millions around the world protested, again led & organized by Muslim activists even in countries where they are mercilessly persecuted. Now, when Kashmiris are enduring a genocidal occupation, including the arrests & torture of 13,000 children, Muslims are again leading & organizing protests around the world. Get now what’s behind the Muslim-hating ‘war on terror’ in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, Somalia, Libya, the Philippines, Burma, India, the Central African Republic, Sri Lanka, & the whipping up of hatred & fear against Muslims in the rest of the world? Those who support human rights & oppose war, occupation, genocide owe Muslims tribute, not vilification, for leading the way in the struggle for human freedom. Amen.

Thank you to friends for being sticklers about misrepresentation. Since we are always accused of fake news by the genocidaires, we are required to be rigorous & scrupulous. Here I am always squawking about it & then I go & post a misidentified photo. It was posted by many sites as a Kashmiri since India most notoriously & egregiously uses pellet munitions against protesters. But when a friend questioned it, I double-checked (as I should have in the first place) & learned it was in fact a Bahraini activist in the glorious Bahraini Arab Spring uprising of 2011 when pellet guns were used against protesters. I make this correction in the interests of always telling the truth, never exaggerating, & to honor the activists who were injured & died in attempting to bring democracy to Bahrain. We will never forget the courage they showed against the Bahraini police, Saudi & Pakistani forces.

One of the thousands of Kashmiri pellet gun victims: pellet guns blind, disable, disfigure, demoralize, & cause permanent injuries & health problems. That’s why they’re used, in the same way as Israeli snipers shoot at the legs of young men to permanently disable them. Most of these victims are working class & unable to afford the costly surgeries & medical treatments required to restore their health. It is a war crime to use pellet guns. India must face prosecution in an international tribunal & those responsible sent to jail for life. They wouldn’t be tortured in prison as they have done to thousands of Kashmiri boys & political prisoners. The oppressed combine resolute justice with mercy. But war crimes must be punished as any other.
UPDATE: this photo is misidentified as a Kashmiri man but he is in fact a Bahraini activist in the Bahrain Arab Spring uprising of 2011 when pellet guns were used against unarmed protesters. Because his injuries are typical of those sustained by pellet munitions, I will allow the photo to stand as representing the damage from pellet guns & the criminality of their use. But we honor the Bahraini man & other Bahraini pellet gun victims as we honor Kashmiri victims.
This is a young boy who sustained pellet gun injuries to his face & body in the 2016 Intifada against the Indian occupation. It is a war crime for which India must be prosecuted despite the glory-mongering over Modi in Texas, NYC, & the UN & the rubbish about fighting “radical Islamic terrorism” in Kashmir.
Demand India immediately stop the use of pellet guns against unarmed protesters in Kashmir.
The cultural boycott of India is launched with an appeal to U2 to not ‘rock the house’ in Mumbai, as Bono has called for at their scheduled performance in December. Whether U2 honors the call or not is not as important as us using the appeal to educate more broadly about the Indian siege & blockade of Kashmir.

Just as India & Israel have developed a strong military relationship out of affinities in genocide against Kashmiris & Palestinians, we must work tirelessly to advance unity in action between Palestinian & Kashmiri solidarity. India is also collaborating with Mahmoud Abbas & the Palestinian Authority, installed by Israel & the US to enforce the Oslo Accords which legitimize occupation & expropriation of all of Palestine. Unity in solidarity action is not just a nice idea but has become imperative.

Celine Dion is scheduled to perform in Israel in August 2020 as part of her “Courage” world tour. We have almost a year to educate Dion about the perils of reducing herself to the soundtrack of colonialism, apartheid, genocide. Tel Aviv, where she will be performing, is less than 50 miles from Gaza where Israel conducts frequent bombing sorties & takes snipers after unarmed protesters every Friday of the year.
