Maybe India needs to plead with the US Pentagon to send troop reinforcements to save Indian soldiers from Kashmiri women.

India’s criminal use of pellet munitions against unarmed protesters in Kashmir

Kashmiri boy pellet gun victim

This is a Kashmiri boy who sustained these pellet gun injuries during the 2016 uprising when over 15,000 people were injured by pellet munitions, designated by India as non-lethal weapons. The Indian army’s use of pellets was so indiscriminate in 2016 that it was condemned in international media after Kashmiri activists exposed the barbarism on social media. In response, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti claimed that Indian soldiers in basic training would be instructed in the proper use of pellets for “mob control”–which to the deranged militarist mind means directing fire below the waist. That is the cognitive disfunction of occupation & genocide because there is no way in hell that a volley of lead pellets shot at high velocity anywhere on the body can be anything but inhuman, lethal, & constituting a major human rights crime.

Kashmiri doctors reported that at least 40 civilians were admitted to hospital on Sunday for pellet gun injuries, mostly to the eyes. One ophthalmologist said he performed 28 eye surgeries on Sunday. This criminality is intentional for the purpose of disabling, disfiguring, & demoralizing especially young people engaged in resistance to occupation.

End the occupation. Self-determination for Kashmir.

U.S. has absolutely no right to be in Afghanistan

Khalzarin Zirgul, six, holds her cousin, three-month-old Zaman (M. Muheisen)

You don’t even have to know anything about the role of the US, Saudi Arabia, & Pakistan in the genesis of the Taliban to question the war in Afghanistan. If you had half a brain as a US military strategist, you would wonder why, after nearly 17 years of carpet bombing, the US-NATO coalition is not only losing (by their own estimates) to the Taliban but are now facing ISIS too.

You also don’t have to know anything about why the US is really in Afghanistan since the reasons morph as the war goes on–from hunting down Osama bin Laden dragging his dialysis equipment around the caves of Afghanistan to liberating Afghan women from Islam & a savage culture to now fighting the Taliban & ISIS who are taking over the country. All you really have to know is that the US has absolutely no right to be there, despite the profits the CIA is making from the opium trade, & that our historic mission is to rebuild a principled antiwar movement to demand the immediate, unconditional withdrawal of all US & foreign forces from Afghanistan. May the Afghans find some measure of justice by defeating US military might.

The Rohingya genocide & international responsibility: South Africa tour

South Africa Rohingya tour Apr 4 2018

From May 2nd through the 8th, Rohingya activist Ro Nay San Lwin & documentary filmmaker Shafiur Rahman will be on a speaking tour of South Africa. There isn’t yet a schedule of cities & venues posted but it’s coming. Both men play a considerable role in educating about & mobilizing against the Rohingya genocide so this is an opportunity to be part of the arduous campaign to build the structures of solidarity against the genocide.

“once more, again
and forever
[they] broke all the vases and
stole all the flowers.
Of course,
the right to kill is theirs,
the right to live isn’t even ours.”

–Zafar Iqbal

“There is no civil society in India, there never has been. It is not even a fucking country if we think seriously. It is futile to hope that voices from India will ever amplify to force their government to stop the colonial-genocidal project in Kashmir. For a large number of Indians, Kashmir is a prized trophy, a ‘paradise’ which they will never want to part with.

With the right wing government in power and its equally monstrous media wings injecting poison of majoritarian nationalism into the arteries of India, the hate against the ‘anti national’ Kashmiris is rising to unprecedented levels. Not that their ‘secular-liberal’ predecessors were any better, they indeed laid the foundational doctrines of Indian occupation of Kashmir.

The colonial-genocidal project in Kashmir has clearly exposed the ugly underbelly of the original idea of India and it is here in Kashmir this oppressive empire will find its graveyard. Inshallah.”
