We need to have what media calls a ‘conversation’ about censorship on social media. Many believe that since Twitter, Facebook, et al, are privately owned, we are not legally entitled to free speech. That in fact is the legal norm in employment, at least in the US where those social media operations are based. One can be fired for their political beliefs even though legal inroads were made against that following the McCarthy witch-hunt era. For the past several years we have watched the steady encroachment of countries demanding social media censor on their behalf. Most egregiously that includes India, Israel, the US, but also China, Russia, & other repressive countries. It seems to me that allowing regimes to dictate censorship on social media creates a legal opening for civil libertarians to oppose that censorship by whatever means necessary–from building international & public opposition to it up to litigating against it.

Some argue that we need an alternative venue to meet & exchange collaboration but why should we be driven out of the place where we can best broaden our campaigns to involve others? Hell no, we won’t go without a fight.

Oprah is no prize package. She’s got elitist politics, a massive messiah complex & thinks she talks direct into God’s ear. She may, like many of her most fawning apostles, even think she is a god. But the lowbrow, lying-assed attempts to portray her as a pimp for Harvey Weinstein are beneath contempt. Does it surprise anyone that the attacks on her are not political but misogynist? Of course misogyny is political since it is the ideology of women’s oppression. Because  racists associate pimping with Blacks, racism also certainly plays a huge element in this slander.

Jerry Seinfeld is a dirtball

Seinfeld at Caliber 3 (2)

Turns out Jerry Seinfeld isn’t just a washed-up comedian. He’s a complete dirtball. After performing in Tel Aviv, he took his whole family to an anti-terrorism theme park in Israel to learn how to hunt Palestinians in what Israel calls ‘military tourism.’ The camp they attended to learn how to snipe & use attack dogs against Palestinian protesters is located in the occupied West Bank. He also visited an Israeli airbase from which bombers deploy over Gaza & made one of his lame-assed jokes about the fun of bombing. Color him putrid.

Revolution & counterrevolution in Syria: there is no middle ground

White Helmet rescuing girl in eastern Ghouta Jan 9 2018

Reposted from January 10th, 2017:

People who don’t understand the disputes over Syria speak of balance & false binaries & insist that in the end we all want the same thing. No we don’t. Nothing will put this movement back together again. It’s a rude awakening but you cannot play both sides of the street when the polarization is revolution versus counterrevolution.

Do you stand with the Syrian revolution of working people against Assad’s gulag, forced disappearances, torture, repression, death squads & summary executions? Or do you stand with Assad’s military counterrevolution taunting the revolution as a lie & opposition to him all head-choppers? There is no proxy regime change war against Assad. It is an outright war against the revolution where Russia, the US-coalition, & the most repressive forces in the Middle East play their part because counterrevolution is the one thing they agree on.

A revolutionary victory against dictatorship in Syria would resonate & change the relationship of forces throughout the world to the advantage of the oppressed. The Syrian revolution is the last one standing of the Arab Spring, so mercilessly were the others reversed by the same counterrevolutionary forces. A defeat would be catastrophic throughout the Middle East & leave Palestinians more isolated than ever.

Those who blither on about vilifying Russia, who claim Israel’s schemes for expansion are behind the war in Syria, who rattle on about Wahhabism, Salafism & other things they know nothing about, who rail against US death squads but cheer on Russian bombers, have become the Greek chorus for Assad’s counterrevolution. They turn principled politics into parody & make a mockery of revolution against dictatorship. Those who take politics seriously face the harsh reality that when it comes to uncompromising opposition between revolution & counterrevolution there is no middle way.

Israel trying to impose death penalty on Palestinian protesters

Protesters in Gaza (Said Khatib:AFP:Getty Images) Jan 10 2018

Thousands marched in Gaza against the Israeli bill allowing military courts to impose the death penalty on “terrorists” by which of course the Knesset means only Palestinians, including little kids who throw stones at the occupying army. Or Ahed Tamimi who is still in jail for righteously slapping an Israeli soldier. This death penalty bill takes Israeli apartheid & ethnic cleansing to new levels of degradation & violence & must be opposed.

Children killed by Russian bombers in eastern Ghouta, Syria

Douma Syria couple mourning child (Hamza Al-Ajweh:AFP:Getty Images) Jan 10 2018

This Syrian couple mourn the death of their child Amir who was killed in Russian carpet bombing of the town of Saqba in eastern Ghouta. Do you think this young mother & father agree with, or at least understand the position of the debased antiwar movement which claims bombing of civilians is necessary to defend Assad’s national sovereignty? Do you think their misgivings about such rancid politics will be overcome when debased socialists throw those quotes from Lenin at them? Or when they blame this carnage on Israel & US regime-change schemes?

Our deepest condolences to this young couple & to all civilians suffering because the antiwar movement has been coopted by political degenerates & is led by comfortably ‘retired’ CIA & FBI agents & military officers.

The only principled demands are that Syria, Russia, & the US-coalition stop bombing civilians & for the immediate, unconditional withdrawal of all foreign military forces from Syria.

No one is more giddy about Harry Windsor’s nuptials than US media. They have their own role to play in legitimizing feudalism, long past its time in the barbaric phase of capitalism–& they can’t keep themselves from groveling before power. Love is grand. But Harry is still a nimrod.

The term “immigrant” doesn’t seem appropriate anywhere since the distinction between economic & war refugees is a false one designed to deny asylum to millions of desperate & poor people. The thousands of people on the US & European borders are refugees & should be called that in campaigns to win them asylum. Mostly, we should call them our own under the rubric that “an injury to one is an injury to all.” Screw Donald Trump.
