In a detestable move, WhatsApp deactivated 1.5 million Kashmiri accounts because they have been inactive over 120 days. The lockdown & telecommunications blockade have now gone on 125 days.
There is a Twitter storm to #StandWithKashmir this weekend. If you have a Twitter account, please post in defense of Kashmiris enduring the living hell of 125 days of colonial lockdown.
Indian journalist Rana Ayyub has distinguished herself as a courageous defender of Kashmiri self-determination against the Indian occupation & lockdown, especially against the strident nationalism of journalists like Barkha Dutt who function more like ventriloquist dummies for the Modi regime.
Nationalist Abhijit Iyer-Mitra, who apparently thought he could not effectively attack her journalism using misogyny, instead resorted to white baiting & the white savior complex to impugn her reporting on Kashmir. If that’s all you’re packing in defense of a brutal colonial occupation, you’ve already conceded to your own disgrace.
Let me just speak personally as a white antiwar activist (who Abhijit Iyer Mitra has blocked on social media): the white savior complex is a pernicious problem in the fight against racism, Islamophobia, war, occupation, genocide. It is one of the main pillars of racist propaganda & war mongering. To misuse & distort it to attack a fearless woman journalist & to defend colonialism in Kashmir is grotesque in the extreme. If Iyer-Mitra were capable of shame, he would hang his head for making such an ass of himself in this putrid article.

This is Ali Alzeedan hugging his two babies who were among those killed by Russian & Syrian war planes bombing the Idlib countryside. Three of his other children & his brother’s wife were injured in the same attacks.
There have been no antiwar actions anywhere in the world against Syrian & Russian bombing which has now gone on several months. The antiwar movement is reduced to a cult supporting the bombing of civilians by claiming there are no civilians in Syria, only terrorists. In the ominous worldwide thrust toward extremist rightwing regimes, the betrayal of the Syrian Arab Spring led the way. It is not too late for those confused & disoriented by Assad propagandists & corrupted political figures to support the Syrian people in their struggle for asylum & for an end to the war against them.
Demand the immediate, unconditional withdrawal of all foreign military forces from Syria.

Despite the Indian occupation & brutal crackdown on the 2016 uprising in Kashmir, in February 2018, Palestinian president & collaborator with Israel Mahmoud Abbas gave Modi the ‘Grand Collar’ award of Palestine, ostensibly to honor his contributions to Palestine but only months after Modi nailed down several military, trade, cultural, scientific, & academic agreements with Israel. Other recipients of the worthless award include the so-called king Salman of Saudi Arabia (who beheads dissidents & is engaged in a murderous bombing campaign of Yemen), king Hamad of Bahrain (who used Saudi Arabian & Pakistani troops to murderously put down the 2011 Bahraini Arab Spring), & president Xi Jinping of China (engaged in genocide of the Uyghur Muslims).
Palestinians who stand with Kashmir are exposing the fraudulence of Mahmoud Abbas & the Palestinian Authority as enforcers of the Oslo Accords legitimizing occupation & expropriation & having more affinity with Modi & Netanyahu than with Palestinians or Kashmiris. Today there is a video on Twitter showed Palestinian children chanting ‘free free Kashmir’ at an event on Kashmir at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). That is the real relationship between Palestinians & Kashmiris: solidarity in the struggle against colonial occupation & for self-determination.

India’s jejune propaganda for the siege & lockdown of Kashmir does not reflect the degree of planning in making Kashmir a Hindu colony. Expropriation & exploitation of natural resources, deforestation, & now using the ‘Israel model’, allowing Hindutva settlers to buy expropriated property & move in. This requires massive international opposition, including educational campaigns, protests, a boycott of Indian products. They’re moving fast because what they accomplish will be harder to reverse. The lockdown & military aggression is to demoralize, disable, incarcerate, repress the opposition they know Kashmiris will express. Solidarity has never been more imperative.
Assadist propaganda, which incorporates Islamophobia & anti-Semitism with support for dictatorship & counterrevolution against the Syrian Arab Spring, had its hay day & is now tanking for its associations with Stalinism & fascism. Vanessa Beeley, who is among the most demented, is now persona non grata. Her schtick became solely focused on maligning the White Helmet rescue workers, most malignantly as organ traffickers. She is a detestable political person whose diplomat father brokered the partition of Palestine for the British. The rotten apple came out of doing sales & riding horses to become a spokesperson for Assad. In a few years, she will be back to the stables on her estate shoveling horse manure where she belongs.
