“Almost every day since the start of this pandemic in India, we have seen:
-Hindu doctors refusing to treat Muslims
-Hindu vendors refusing to sell to Muslims
-Hindu customers refusing to buy from Muslims
-Hindus blaming the pandemic on Muslims
This is Nazi Germany redux.”

A Kashmiri woman cries as the Indian occupying army demolishes a family home in Pulwama during a hunt to kill operation. Three homes were destroyed & several were also vandalized & damaged. Is that how the Indian Army enforces the corona lockdown order confining people to their homes?
Demand the immediate, unconditional withdrawal of all Indian forces from Kashmir.

The PSA detention (in luxury accommodations) of former J&K chief minister Mehbooba Mufti has been extended three months. India has no right to arrest or incarcerate anyone in Kashmir. Still doesn’t make Mufti anything more than a two-bit collaborator.

Retired Indian Army officer Harish Puri has removed this tweet but not before several had taken screenshots. His amen chorus is fellow Hindutva nationalists. This genocidal sentiment was frequently espoused by supporters of the Vietnam War & we all know what happened to the US Army forced to scurry like rats off a sinking ship when it was defeated by the Vietnamese.

Most of us are thrilled about Kashmiris receiving the Pulitzer not because we’re into honorifics. After all, Aung San Suu Kyi has a warehouse full of them & she’s a genocidaire. We’re thrilled because Kashmiris visually telling the story of their struggle has preempted the millions of dollars in propaganda & bullshit pumped out by the Modi regime to justify the occupation. It’s a triumph of reality over Hindutva lies & deceits. It’s a triumph for the Kashmiri freedom struggle.

Just as Hindutva slugs attempted to impugn 14-year-old shepherd boy Hazim Shafi Bhat as a terrorist, they are attempting to impugn the J&K photojournalists who won the 2020 Pulitzer as Muslim terrorists. Every one of their photos of the occupation refutes a thousand Hindutva lies. The first & last refuge of nationalist, xenophobic, & supremacist slugs is to yell ‘Muslim terrorism’. It is a charge that remains in full force since it has wreaked havoc against the struggles of the oppressed for a very long time. Let Kashmir be its denouement.

Kashmiri photojournalist Dar Yasin, who just won the Pulitzer for his coverage during the lockdown, has been taking extraordinary photos for several years covering the Kashmiri struggle as well as the war in Afghanistan & the 2017 genocidal siege against the Rohingya. This album of his images of Rohingya refugees, including this photo of a young mother grieving her child who drowned in a boat capsize, are among the most moving, unforgettable, & haunting. What makes Dar Yasin’s work so remarkable is how he captures the humanity of the oppressed & helps overcome our detachment from war, occupation, genocide so that what happens to others around the world is important & personal to all of us.
