It’ll make your blood boil to watch this rubbish but we need to know what they are saying in order to ridicule & refute it in its entirety.

It cannot be stated often & strongly enough that ‘war on terror’ ideology & strategy must be rejected in its entirety, in particular its Islamophobic character. One would think it had exhausted its potential in the barbarisms visited upon Iraqis, Afghans, Syrians, Yemenis, Uyghur, Rohingya, Sri Lankans, Somalians, Kashmiris, Palestinians, & so many others but it continues to crescendo & gain force as a justification for colonialism, war, genocide, as well as justification for persecution of Muslims in many other countries. It demonizes Muslims & puts emphasis on the reactionary militarized response to colonialism rather than on the considerably more overwhelming & significant colonial armies & propaganda forces who often create, train, & bankroll paramilitary insurgencies.

This is a chilling article about India’s colonial (what they call development plans) for Kashmir. Indian propaganda to justify the siege & lockdown may be simple-minded with all the ‘war on terror’ rubbish, but the land & resources of Kashmir are critical for Indian capitalism to salvage a system in a debilitating economic crisis. We can be sure that government economists, agronomists, scientists, planners, financiers, & the military have carefully thought out how to colonize Kashmir, change the demographics & politics to Hindutva, & plunder the resources.

One could take issue with the writer’s claim that protests in Kashmir ‘are muted’ since we know that initially & despite the presence of nearly a million troops, there were massive protests that were violently attacked by soldiers. There isn’t sufficient information coming out now to suggest that protests have become ‘muted’ although certainly widespread exhaustion, even demoralization, may have set in since Kashmiris do not know that an international movement now stands with them, that they are not alone.

Our commitment remains demanding the immediate, unconditional withdrawal of all Indian forces from Kashmir.

When the Indian consul general in NYC called for the “Israeli model’ of colonialism in Kashmir, he was not making an original proposal but stating India’s plans for expropriation of Kashmiri lands & resources. With nearly one million troops in Kashmir, the Oslo Accords for Kashmir are already going into full effect so that India can now move in Hindutva settlers, land developers, construction & destruction workers, more soldiers, & start cutting down the forests, building settlements, taking over Kashmiri orchards & farmland.

We will need more than the power of protests to impede this process. It requires an internationally coordinated economic, cultural, academic boycott of India & thinking out how to issue a formal call should be one of our political & solidarity priorities.

Since Kashmiris are boycotting the schools to protect their children, the Indian Army is now billeting paramilitary troops in the empty classrooms. Paramilitary troops are mercenaries whether or not they wear a uniform & are used by many militaries as auxiliary forces. They’re working for the money even if they have the same ideological commitments as the Indian government in Kashmir. Mostly they’re amoral guns for hire. The Geneva Conventions (which are anyway universally flouted) do not recognize them as ‘legitimate combatants’, however the hell that is defined in colonial wars, occupations, genocide. They do not receive legal protections under the Geneva Accords but then neither are most soldiers prosecuted for war crimes under the Accords. What the paramilitary status provides is a license to commit war crimes with impunity.

Demand the immediate, unconditional withdrawal of all Indian troops from Kashmir.
