When the Indian consul general in NYC called for the “Israeli model’ of colonialism in Kashmir, he was not making an original proposal but stating India’s plans for expropriation of Kashmiri lands & resources. With nearly one million troops in Kashmir, the Oslo Accords for Kashmir are already going into full effect so that India can now move in Hindutva settlers, land developers, construction & destruction workers, more soldiers, & start cutting down the forests, building settlements, taking over Kashmiri orchards & farmland.
We will need more than the power of protests to impede this process. It requires an internationally coordinated economic, cultural, academic boycott of India & thinking out how to issue a formal call should be one of our political & solidarity priorities.
