China just banned the use of puns claiming the use of such verbal trickery could lead to “cultural & linguistic chaos.” I’ve been saying the same thing for years. There’s nothing more wretched in language than a pun & those who use them should be severely punished. Solitary confinement is not too harsh to consider.

I wouldn’t call China’s ban an endorsement of my prejudice though. You could admire China for standing up before the world & making such an idiotic ruling without flinching. But then such insularity to judgement is precisely the profile of psychopaths. So pun away. Just not on my wall. No stronger laments will be heard in all of hell.
