s worldwide cases of coronavirus approach 2 million, the number in the US is 533,378. They’ve stopped talking about all the celebrities who contracted it & have top-rate medical care because of its overwhelming threat to & impact on refugees, political prisoners, the Black community, the urban poor who have almost no medical care. Israeli occupying forces & settlers have used the time to accelerate assaults on Palestinians; Indian occupying forces are escalating violence against Kashmiris & Indian media are whipping up ‘coronajihad’ hysteria in India; Rohingya refugees are still denied access to the internet.

We can’t let this quarantine put us at a disadvantage in campaigning against such predations but led by tech-savvy youth must find social media ways to stand with the oppressed. No human being is alien to us, even at a time of coronavirus.

“MADRASA HOT SPOTS: After assaulting Tableegi Jamat (Muslims) Indian media has launched an all-out attack on poor CHILDREN staying/studying at Madrasas and have nowhere to go. It is pertinent to mention that most of the children in these Madrasas are orphans chasing through long years in the shadows of vanished parents, poverty and starvation. I believe, since most of them are homeless, the best and probably the only alternative for them in lockdown was to stay where they are. It is strange, really, how Indian media is stooping to new lows with every day passing in this pandemic. Day in and day out they cook something communal and use it against the underprivileged sections of the country.
Curse should rest on the Indian media.”

A study by the Johns Hopkins Center for Humanitarian Health estimates a large-scale coronavirus outbreak in Rohingya refugee camps in Bangladesh that would lead to tens of thousands of deaths since they are poorly nourished, live in overcrowded conditions, have post-traumatic syndrome from genocide, have little access to clean water & sanitation. The Bangladeshi government continues to deny them access to the internet so they can understand coronavirus protocols. Can anyone explain an operative distinction between genocide & ‘culling the herd’ being practiced toward refugees around the world?

Rollie Mukerhjee did “this work for the book #Boysofthecave by Zulekha Adam published in 2019 ( for the chapter “Al Mutanabbi” ) #Iraq #Baghdad “When libraries are bombed, fragments of books rain down on us and words die .” . Quarantine is an excellent time to get the youth reading! Get your hands on the kindle version of Boys of the Cave!”
