This educational forum in Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany is one of several such events. The issue of Kashmiri self-determination was internationalized by the massive protests last year. Educational events will help to build that movement so that the next protests will be even more massive & indignant.

By documentary filmmaker Basharat Amin:
“This is rediculous..Kashmiris are suffering day in and day out.We are living in 21th centuary. In this contemporary period when science and technology has revolutionised the whole world, people in this part of land are forced to live in premitive times.
Where are the so called protaganist and torchbearers of human rights?.Countries and organisation which claim to be harbingers of liberty are mute spectators and their silence encourages oppressors.”
A heartbreaking story about the hardships Kashmiri families face when their sons & fathers (in one case a 73-year-old man) are jailed in Indian prisons hundreds of miles from home.

In an attempt to understand, I’ve gathered a library of books on the formation & role of al Qaeda & ISIS in the Middle East & elsewhere. It’s not an easy matter to unravel, especially because there is so much mythologizing around it. But I am beginning to think that fetishizing Islam is as much a problem for these militias as it is for the manufactured ‘war on terror’ ideology.
The isolation of the Syrian Arab Spring is often blamed on Obama for failing to take military action when Syria used chemical weapons & for failing to arm the opposition. You could only hold that view if you believe the US Pentagon is in the business of revolution rather than colonial wars & occupation. The isolation of the Syrian Arab Spring is a result of the complete corruption & collapse of the international left & antiwar movement into an Assadist & Stalinist cult. That corruption manifested in the earliest days of the Syrian uprising based on political capitulation to the rancid ‘war on terror’ narrative.
This photo often appears in reputable media & has been presented at the UN misidentified as a Kashmiri child suffering pellet gun injuries. The little girl is in fact a Palestinian who suffered trauma & shrapnel damage in the 2014 Israeli carpet bombing siege of Gaza. Correcting the misidentification is not a pedantic exercise but to show respect for the children of Gaza who are sustaining genocide.

A nine-year-old Palestinian boy shot in the eye by an Israeli policeman using a sponge-tipped bullet may lose his sight in that eye. That is what the policeman intended in the ongoing genocide against Palestinians.
The US engages in endless wars for colonial purposes but it is also driven inexorably by the massive profiteering involved. What Eisenhower called the ‘military-industrial complex’.
