I have over 100 friend requests from mostly Kashmiris who are involved in a monumental political struggle against colonial occupation. I also have at least that many who post photos of green bean casseroles, sand dunes on a summer day trip, mystical memes about the universe & don’t seem to share my commitments on anything except ‘love is a many splendored thing.’

Choices must be made & because posting about a brutal occupation is stressful my choices are becoming more ruthless. Some people don’t feel the need to engage on FB; I do. So if we haven’t interacted since I met you five or six years ago, we probably won’t in the next five or six. Meanwhile I have a lot to learn from Kashmiris.
