Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick, an anti-abortion Republican, told Tucker Carlson on Fox News that grandparents over 70 are willing to die to save the economy for their grandchildren, that they’re willing to sacrifice their lives for the country. How did it happen that killing off seniors became seen by politicians as a solution to the coronavirus?

After 232 days in a luxury suite gulag, former J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah was released today. In his first statement, he asked the Indian government to restore 4G internet so Kashmiris could be informed about coronavirus protocols, asked India to release other political prisoners, & expressed sympathy with the ordeal caused Kashmiris by the lockdown. It’s all street theater & political melodrama since Abdullah is the chief minister responsible for introducing pellet guns in Kashmir against unarmed protesters; he’s responsible for the execution of many young boys, the incarceration, torture, forced disappearance of thousands.

India has no rights in Kashmir to arrest anyone, including corrupt collaborators like Abdullah. But he is owed no respect whatsoever as a political prisoner. As one Kashmiri tweeted after the announcement of his release, “One virus at a time. Please.”

Kashmir Media Service reported yesterday that Indian troops arrested six young men in Keran village in the Kupwara district during a hunt to kill operation. Details of the incident are not reported. But is it appropriate for the Indian occupying army to be carrying out military operations & arresting civilians during an international deadly disease epidemic?

I just blocked four Hindutva guys who used the laugh emoticon on my featured photos of the little Kashmiri boy grieving the death of his friend & the little Palestinian girl suffering shrapnel damage & shell shock from the 2014 bombing campaign of Israel. It’s the same mentality as Assadists & Stalinists who mock the suffering of Syrian children sustaining scorched earth bombing & displacement. Have there ever been insightful & no-nonsense analyses of the relationship between stinking rotten politics & psychopathy? Because they’re sure needed. Such analyses would likely be best served by those who have been on the receiving end of such violence but they are too busy standing against oppression to do criminal profiles & psychological studies of the oppressors.

“All Kashmiri prisoners who are under preventive detention in various jails across India should be released urgently. Preventive detention is otherwise a human rights violation but in the context of Coronavirus pandemic, if anything happens to a single prisoner it will be State’s responsibility.”

–Kashmiri human rights leader Khurram Parvez

“Italy is the country which spoke against us (Kashmiris) last year in the meetings of UN and EU. But even then, on the basis of humanity, we pray to Almighty to be kind on its people and get it out of the current pandemic crisis!”
