Just when you think Assad propagandist Vanessa Beeley can’t stoop any lower than accusing the White Helmets of trafficking human organs, Russian propaganda media RT publishes an article by her titled “White Helmets use Covid-19 crisis to further US Coalition regime change agenda in Syria”. This is another case that makes you wonder where do fascist politics end & psychopathy begin?

Where most of humanity sees coronavirus as a blight, the extreme right welcomes it as a way to ‘cull the herd’ of undesirables like refugees & the poor & to alter power relations to the advantage of fascists. One thing we know for sure about the right: they are indefatigable in their pursuit of injustice & tyranny whilst many of us look to progressive politicians to do our work for us. Our work under quarantine must be to find new forms of resistance against their rightward thrust.
This is an okay article about the crisis coronavirus presents to millions of refugees around the world. It even includes Palestinian refugees but notably does not mention the hundreds of thousands of mostly Central American refugees living in squalid camps on the US-Mexico border.
We cannot allow quarantine to preempt campaigning for immediate healthcare & food services for refugees. It’s a humanitarian imperative but it is equally self-survival.
Why is the Mexican government opposed to aggressive action against coronavirus? Probably because of its links to the drug cartels. It’s hard to move thousands of tons of drugs if the cartel gangsters are under lockdown.
There’s something really off about taking this moment to praise China’s healthcare system which is not as available to the working & rural poor as it is to the nouveau riche. Critical judgement should be able to distinguish between Chinese propaganda trying to recoup after its practices regarding animals caused this catastrophe & the realities of Chinese healthcare.
