“there is always a method to the apparent madness Modi does and many in response just make memes and poke fun at him. what he is doing is absolutely sinister, he has demonstrated total control over hearts and minds of millions in india. against his word common sense suddenly doesn’t make sense for millions, this intellectual meltdown is a sign of a disaster worse than a pandemic. this thaali banging and candle burning is simply a reiteration of his absolute sway over people amidst a global pandemic. there is no stopping him, any resistance against him during anti NRC/CAA protests has just melted away. he will be back with a venegeance unheard of. methinks.

PS: hope i am overthinking and wrong.”

As we try to find ways to cope with quarantine, keep in mind that four-million Syrian refugees from scorched earth Syrian & Russian bombing are living four families per tent without access to water, food, disinfectants, medical care.

Demanding the immediate cessation of Syrian & Russian bombing & the immediate withdrawal of all foreign troops are fundamental to fighting coronavirus in Syria, especially among refugees.

The ruthless occupations & lockdowns of Kashmir & Gaza are not even remotely comparable to coronavirus quarantine since we don’t have armies threatening us. But quarantine does give some vague idea of just how brutal military occupation & lockdown are. Our fullest solidarity with Kashmiris & Palestinians in their struggle against this barbarism.

Not sure ‘Dust in the Wind’ is the best message at the advent of a worldwide pandemic but the children’s chorus is just sweet.

"Nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky." – Get ready for something special! This is one of the never-before-seen PS22 hidden gems, a personal favorite now made public! The song's somber beauty and message seem to resonate now more than ever — For good or for ill, this too shall pass… Song: "Dust In The Wind" by Kansas (Kerry Livgren)Filmed by: Ms. Lisa

The 2011 Arab Spring uprisings were remarkable in their tenacity & courage & were all distinguished by the leading role of women. That was true in Egypt, Yemen, Syria, & Bahrain. That makes this documentary on the torture & sexual violence inflicted on women political prisoners in Bahrain so much more wrenching & disturbing. In the violent repression of the uprising, the Bahraini monarch relied heavily on British & US police training–an ignominy that makes our defense of Bahraini political prisoners an iron-clad responsibility. As an aside, Amal Clooney was an attorney for the Bahraini king after the repression of the uprising which completely invalidates, or at least challenges, her credentials as a human rights advocate.

Shehla Rashid (@Shehla_Rashid) tweeted: “There might be a reason why police states and authoritarian nations are able to contain this {coronavirus} better. Face with tears of joy In Delhi, they’re taking out processions and celebrating Corona festival. In Kashmir, strict compliance.”

What a mouthful of rubbish! How has she missed the militarization of coronavirus by the Indian occupying army in Kashmir? Is that what she means by ‘strict compliance’ with corona protocols? Why does she believe the Modi regime’s account of coronavirus in India or ignore its attempts to blame Indian Muslims for ‘coronajihad’? Has she read about how millions of Indian slum dwellers are imperiled by the virus? Does she think Chinese, Syrian, Russian, Israeli, Indian repression have done a great job of containing the virus or are those regimes lying through their teeth about the incidents of the virus in their countries?

Louisiana just released coronavirus data showing that Blacks, who make up roughly 32% of the population, account for 70% of all deaths in the state. Such statistics just from Louisiana, New York, Michigan, Illinois speak to the genocidal impact of racist discrimination in the US which denies nutrition, proper housing, & healthcare to millions.
