We should take a moment to honor these three young men, Ra’ed Hamdan, Omar Abu Laila, & Zaid Nouri, from the West Bank murdered last night by Israeli occupation forces. May they Rest In Peace after a life spent fighting for Palestinian freedom & justice.
There is nothing beneath the dignity of the US government when it comes to racism. Barbarity has become the norm in US policy, both within the US & around the world. So although it does not surprise us that Trump officials intentionally inflicted trauma & harm on refugee children, we are still overwhelmed & horrified to read documentation of their malice which is done in our names & with our tax money. Our response must be to build the refugee & immigrant rights movement & demand the US open the borders.
Chart showing increase of attacks on Muslims worldwide but it by no means represents the scale of persecution of Muslims. Many places not represented here have long histories of systemic persecution of Muslims, including pogroms & genocide. Most notably not mentioned are: Burma Palestine, Kashmir, East Turkistan, Syria, Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan, Somalia, Egypt, Pakistan, Turkey, & Yemen.
