Regarding the violence against Muslims in India:

Facebook shut down the account of Palestinian Mohammed Selmy for 24 hours because he correctly said Israeli soldiers in Hebron arrested & tortured a young man with Down Syndrome. They broke Mahmoud Zayed’s wrist while he was in custody. This is not the first incident of Israeli soldiers assaulting men with Down Syndrome. In December 2017, 29-year-old Mohamed al-Tawil was arrested & beaten in Hebron. In July 2016, 23-year-old Arif Jaradat was shot & killed by Israeli troops in his West Bank village of Sair.
We should be sensitive in reporting these incidents since the international Self Advocacy movement of those with learning disabilities asserts & fights for the right & ability of those with learning limitations to participate fully in social & political life. It is important to refer to them as men rather than boys unless they are in fact minors. They may have special needs but they understand oppression & certainly military occupation as well as others. While international media vilifies Palestinians as terrorists & justifies the Israeli genocide against them, it is a breath of fresh air to see Mehdi Hasan make chopped liver out of an Israeli apologist. This Israeli official actually claims 21-year-old nurse Razan al-Najjar who was assassinated by an Israeli sniper at the Great Return March was carrying an incendiary bomb when B’Tselem, the Israeli human rights group, found she had been deliberately killed by a sniper. Zionists have gotten away with this crap for 70 years & now are finally being challenged for apartheid, colonialism, genocide.

Kashmiris in the Kishtwar District are angrily protesting the custodial killing of this man, 40-year-old Javed Ahmed Malik, & demanding the police officials responsible be charged with murder. Police authorities claim he was arrested for cattle smuggling & while they were transporting him to a health center for routine medical care, he escaped from police custody, fell, & sustained these massive injuries to his head which resulted in his death. Did he fall off a 200 foot cliff? In an age of sophisticated forensics investigations, there should be no dispute about how this man was injured. The song & dance provided by police authorities does not explain the scale of injuries to his head. But he is in custody under military occupation where impunity is the rule of law.
We stand in full solidarity with the protesters in Kishtwar in demanding justice for Javed Malik & his family. May he Rest In Peace.
