Since Twitter makes a mockery of political debate, thousands are actually taking sides in the Tulsi Gabbard vs Hillary Clinton dispute about war mongering when the political differences between them on the issues of war & genocide are indistinguishable even on the level of campaign rhetoric. Lesser evil mentality is dead-end political vision.

Aahil Asif has posted this story of a Kashmiri family whose teenage daughter was abducted by Indian occupying forces in June 2000 & is still missing. Authorities refuse to investigate what happened to her or to take legal action against the soldiers involved. This report is from 2017 but like Shafkat Hussain Raina’s documentary video on the use of Kashmiri forced labor by the Indian Army gives an idea of the monstrous character of colonial occupation in Kashmir.

Kashmiris have suffered this kind of brutality long enough. Their struggle is central to the historic task of ridding this world of colonialism & supremacist relations between human beings. Solidarity with their struggle is not an option but an imperative.

There are hundreds of photos of thousands of Kashmiri women protesting going back years up until today facing off against Indian troops using tear gas, pellet guns, & live ammunition. So it is not divisive to question, be skeptical or appalled by all the attention paid to the protest of a handful of elite Kashmiri women associated with Kashmiri leaders like the Abdullah family & Mehbooba Mufti who collaborate with India against the movement for self-determination. Their quisling relatives are under arrest in posh hotels to whitewash their role as collaborators while India stage manages their return to power as moderates who can be worked with. As Sultan Magami puts it, “These so-called protesters are the well heeled whose “conscience” never awoke for the past 30 years prior to this protest when Kashmiris had to suffer through worse when their brother/father ruled Kashmir….If Kashmir is in ruins right now, all the blame lies with these families. If a similar protest were held by everyday, ordinary mothers & sisters of Kashmir, all of them would have pellet injuries to show for it!”

When people are sustaining genocide, they don’t have time for delusions or false unities. Recognizing committed allies from collaborators isn’t sectarian or factional politics but a life & death question for the struggle for self-determination.

(Photo is Kashmiri women at the August 2015 funeral protest of 23-year-old Bilal Ahmad Bhat who was shot dead by Indian paramilitary forces on August 11th when they opened fire on unarmed protesters.)

This is a useful meme about Kashmiri leaders & collaborators with Indian colonialism who have responsibility for forcible disappearances, arrests, torture, mass rapes, pellet gun injuries, disabilities, & deaths, the victimization & brutalization of children. Kashmiris have every good reason to express skepticism when a few women from the families of these quislings staged a protest against occupation after some of them were put under arrest in swanky hotels while azadi activists are held in rat hole prisons.

Terrorizing, disabling, arresting, killing children is the ABCs of genocide by the Israeli military in occupied Palestine.

The 78th day of the blockade of Kashmir where “Every dawn begins with a funeral.”

Demand the immediate, unconditional withdrawal of all Indian troops from Kashmir & the immediate release of all political prisoners.
