A little Rohingya refugee

Rohingya child from Zaiur Rahman May 31 2017

A little Rohingya girl, a refugee:

I was working on a story about Rohingya refugees & their barbaric treatment by the Malaysian government which is an important story because it characterizes the unspeakable treatment of Rohingya refugees & is part of the treatment refugees are receiving all over the world.

My computer crashed since I had too many links open. I am reconstructing the story but meanwhile am posting this photo of a little girl to remind us never to let attention stray too far from solidarity with Rohingya in their struggle against ethnic cleansing in Myanmar & for refugee rights wherever they are.

Thank you to Ziaur Rahman for this beautiful image.

I hope my Rohingya & Bangladeshi friends in the Cox’s Bazar region found shelter & are safe from Cyclone Mora.

Lately, there’s been quite a bit of unfriending on my Facebook wall. I’d have thought Assad supporters & Hindutva nationalists would have long ago discovered our constitutional incompatibilities. Is it that some are just realizing I’m a smart-aleck & think a woman should better know her place?

No problem. I am truly blessed in my friends & am always grateful for what I learn from them. I have a waiting list of mostly Kashmiris & Indians who I would love to engage with because of the importance of the Kashmiri struggle for freedom & Indian anti-occupation activists. Every time a reactionary bites the dust, my life is blessed with freedom fighters.
