All the upper class socialists are jabbering away about what kind of party to form to lead the working class, parsing differences between the rhetoric of Sanders & Warren, swapping spit about Jeffrey Epstein. But not a one of them is talking about those on the front lines of oppression, including Kashmiris, Palestinians, Rohingya, & others facing genocide, the war against Black youth, or the crises of refugees. They aren’t talking politics at all because they think that would be divisive. Which is good because when they do, they’re often on the wrong side, especially in supporting Assad & Putin.
Some socialists think reading or writing imponderable books & thinking deep thoughts are where it’s at & that activism is for the plebes. Then there are those who don’t disdain theory but who think you learn the most from the struggles of those standing up against war, occupation, genocide. The latter can astutely distinguish the blithering of dilettantes from the insights of the oppressed. May the ‘deep thinkers’ be reminded that Marx & Engels were first & foremost activists in German politics. That’s why Marx said: “The philosophers have only interpreted the world in various ways. The point, however, is to change it.” Those words are inscribed on his tombstone.

This is a cogent explanation of the Kashmiri Pandit (Hindu) exodus from Kashmir in the 90s which shows it to be a murderous divide & conquer maneuver by the Indian government to justify the occupation. Because of the way India uses the Pandit issue & the role right-wing Pandits are playing in the Hindutva movement, it is essential to understand the entire issue.

Tulsi Gabbard defended Modi for the 2002 pogrom against Muslims in the state of Gujarat when he was chief minister. She answered a reporters’ question about the massacre by smugly asking, “Do you know what instigated those riots?” It was her attempt to blame Muslims when for several days Hindutva mobs incited by Modi rampaged the city slaughtering men, women & children, raping women, burning houses, vandalizing property, looting shops. More than 2,000 people, mostly Muslims, died in the massacre. That, along with her support for Assad & the blockade of Kashmir, is the measure of Gabbard’s politics.

Started out watching a Danish thriller titled “Domino.” It had a seedy ambience but I hoped it would get better. Then the plot sickened with the CIA entering on a mission to trap ISIS members in Copenhagen. From there it went all out hysterical Islamophobic with Muslims putting a woman in a homicidal trance to shoot up the red carpet at a premiere & then praising Allah. Who writes this crap? It’s actually a good career choice for Assad propagandists like Eva Bartlett & Vanessa Beeley when their gigs with Putin & Assad dry up.
US presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren is being trolled by Hindutvavadis for tweeting her ‘concern’ about human rights in Kashmir. First they troll, then they send money to her campaign & Warren’s concern will prove as steadfast as a snowball in the fires of hell. No one should be willing to sell Palestinians down the river over an expression of ‘concern’ about Kashmir from Warren. She is a committed supporter of Israel & that’s a betrayal of human rights quite sufficient to write her off. Kashmiris need steadfast commitment, not expedience or campaign rhetoric. If you don’t ‘get’ the Palestinian struggle against colonial occupation, you sure as hell don’t get the Kashmiri struggle against it.
Many will remember how India snapped the internet in Kashmir during the 2016 uprising so the barbarism of their attacks, especially with pellet munitions against unarmed protesters, would not become public. Kashmiri youth are electronically savvy & circumvented the internet blockade by using the VPN system & maintained their presence on social media. More than electronically savvy, Kashmiris are committed to freedom & this young man named Zahid testifies to that commitment.
