There is no reason in the world to try to reason with or reach for some kind of lesser evil explanation for why Bernie Sanders is defending Tulsi Gabbard against Hillary Clinton’s claims that Gabbard & 2016 Green Party candidate Jill Stein are “Russian assets”. If he was principled instead of opportunist, he would have stayed out of the fray between Gabbard & Hillary Clinton over who is the worst war monger of the two. But of course Sanders’ record isn’t much better in terms of voting US war appropriations.

Gabbard responded that Clinton was the “queen of warmongers, embodiment of corruption, & personification of the rot that has sickened the Democratic Party.” Stein responded that the charge was “a completely unhinged conspiracy theory.” Sanders defended Gabbard by calling the charge “outrageous.” But when you consider Gabbard & Stein’s support for Syrian & Russian bombing of Syrian civilians, it is not outrageous or farfetched at all to call them ‘Russian assets’ or for that matter, blood-thirsty war mongers. When you add in Gabbard’s outspoken support for the Indian blockade of Kashmir, one can also correctly call her a genocidal war monger & supporter of Indian fascism.

Sanders has clearly become the front-runner among do-nothing socialists who have the political idiocy to claim he has advanced the cause of socialism in the US. It’s really a bummer when those who think themselves sophisticated political commentators cannot tell the difference between commitment to justice & campaign rhetoric. Somewhere in Florida there is swampland looking for such buyers.
