A little Muslim-hating troll came along & tried to spread her venom from post to post, even posting a video of a nutcase talking about how Muslims just can’t get along with anybody. She has been dispatched & deleted after 15 minutes of shame. Why do the haters have such a need to skulk & abuse like that? Zionists, Assadists, Stalinists, anti-Semites, Hindutvavadis all do that thing as if they need to be hated as much as hate.

Could I just say again that the word ‘retard’ or any derivatives of it like ‘libtard’ are extremely hurtful to those with learning disabilities & are considered as hate language? The Self-Advocacy Movement of those with learning disabilities actively campaigns to have ‘retarded’ removed as a designation for their disability because of its widespread use as a stigma & term of abuse.

I say this with respect to my younger brother Paul who took his own life after 40 years of humiliation, growing up as he did in an era when those with learning or other disabilities were considered subhuman or defective.

Activists don’t campaign just to express outrage & opposition, like the political version of throwing a tantrum. We do it to organize & mobilize opposition to injustice, inequality, & war because we are committed to belief in the human race & the power of human solidarity. Call that utopian or eccentric if you like but once you’ve seen a mass social movement change the world, there’s no going back to cynicism or wishing on a star. Those who fall into passivity along the way or get politically corrupted show that some exhaust their political energies in youth or had other options to staying the course. So much of humanity has had no choice at all but to die standing on the front lines of war, occupation, genocide. The goal of activism is a world suitable for all children to come of age in, for all human beings to live & love in.

This is 24-year-old Mudasir Ahmad Dar from the Baramulla district in Kashmir. Not that protesting justifies such violence & barbarity, but Mudasir was not out protesting when he was assaulted with a pellet gun & left in this condition. He was at home in bed late evening when Indian forces came pounding on his family’s door.

Trump proposed today that Modi be known as the “father of India” because of his success in uniting India. That could just be another instance of Trump’s sycophancy to power. It could also mean Hindutvavadis have made some kind of quid pro quo deal with Trump. It more likely means the US hopes Modi’s siege of Kashmir under the guise of fighting “radical Islamic terrorism” will revitalize & continue to justify the Islamophobic ‘war on terror’ which is being discredited right & left by Muslim & Arab peoples standing against it in defiance.

One of my Facebook friends is a web designer who is helping set up the “U2 Boycott India” page to persuade them to cancel their scheduled gig in Mumbai on December 15th as the last stop of their The Joshua Tree tour. One U2 band member said: “Mumbai is the perfect city to end our tour.” Another said: “We’re much looking forward to bringing a dash of Dublin to Mumbai, India–a country famous for its rich culture of art, music, movies, theatre, literature, food & so much more.” The Edge said: “We have been around the world with The Joshua Tree & we can’t think of a better place to celebrate the end of this tour.” Bono said: “Mumbai. Let’s rock the house.”

Any suggestions on how to use those quotes, especially that “Mumbai, let’s rock the house” thing to construct an appeal to U2 to honor the boycott of India?

The image is their poster from their tour. Any suggestions for an image?

Out of all the things to be distressed about in India’s siege of Kashmir, it is quite hard to see so many Facebook friends worried sick about their families after this earthquake & unable to confirm their safety. The Indian government doesn’t give a rat’s ass about that.

#StandWithKashmir Boycott the hell out of India.

Assadists & others have made Greta Thunberg a target of their venom, writing long diatribes about her nefarious connections to the political underworld. She has also been targeted for personal ridicule & demonization. But as Satyadeep Satya says: “Greta Thunberg brought attention to the looming climate catastrophe. How does that distract attention from indigenous people who have been fighting & dying in defence of life on earth while the ‘mainstream’ looks away–if not lobbying for their suppression by might of arms & law? If you know about these numerous struggles across the world, then didn’t Greta just give you another chance to draw attention to them? Or are you only interested in covering up your own callous elitism by making light of Greta’s struggle & trying to sound anti-elitist while doing it?”

This is a brilliant, uncompromising speech from this young girl & those of us who don’t have ulterior motives salute her fearless indignation.

Greta Thunberg to world leaders: 'How dare you – you have stolen my dreams and my childhood'

'You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words,' climate activist Greta Thunberg has told world leaders at the 2019 UN climate action summit in New York. In an emotionally charged speech, she accused them of ignoring the science behind the climate crisis, saying: 'We are in the beginning of a mass extinction and all you can talk about is money and fairy tales of eternal economic growth – how dare you!'

Just consider that Kashmiris outside their country are unable to call home & check on their families after a 6.3 earthquake in the region.
