Why is it that when political figures get involved in genocide, the honorifics start raining down on them like nuclear radiation? Kissinger got the Nobel Peace Prize while the US was carpet bombing North Vietnam? In 2012, Suu Kyi picked up her belated Nobel & whole bushel baskets of human rights awards whilst in Burma tens of thousands of Rohingya were running for their lives & she had nothing to say about that when asked. Last year, Modi was given the UN’s highest environmental award, the ‘Champions of the Earth Award’. Apparently, the UN hadn’t taken a look at the size of the toxic waste dumps in India or the number of Indians forced to pick through them to earn a living. Just last week, he got another worthless piece of crap from the UAE which has been bombing Yemen for close to five years & now the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation have announced that when he comes to the US later this month, they’ll be giving him their 2019 ‘Global Goalkeeper Award’ for a cleanliness program against public pooping. Part of that program involved India building waste management programs & 90 million public toilets so public pooping wasn’t necessary. If would be really good to know how many toilets India actually built & how much of the money instead lines the pockets of government officials.

There’s another thing the Gates Foundation has going on with Modi that they probably don’t want too well known & that’s collaboration with the Indian government & USAID in population control/eugenics programs. We’re not talking family planning centers with prenatal care, maternal & infant nutrition programs, birth control, & abortion services but eugenics & forced sterilization camps which are the cornerstone of India’s family planning system. In 2012, the big players in population control/eugenics programs, including the Gates Foundation, made India one of their target countries & pledged over $4.6 billion to expand eugenics programs. It’s another form of genocide for the poor & dispossessed, in particular oppressed castes.

After attending UN stuff, Modi will be traveling to Houston, Texas on September 22nd which has one of the highest concentration of Indian-Americans in the country. They’re going to be holding a ‘Howdy, Modi’ rally at a stadium that holds 70,000 even though his previous rallies in the US at Madison Square Garden in NYC in 2014 & Silicon Valley in 2016 drew about 20,000. The organizers claim 50,000 have already registered. All the Texas politicians will be there, including the mayor of Houston, the governor & senators. It will be larger than 2014 & 2016 because it will be a Hindutva political show of support for the siege & blockade of Kashmir. What’s important to Kashmiri supporters is that it says a lot of Indian investment is tied up in the state of Texas & a lot of Texas investment in India. That makes a #BoycottIndia movement here much more compelling & much more threatening.

Anyone in Texas or elsewhere who is interested in holding Free Kashmir rallies during Modi’s visit & that ‘Howdy, Modi’ nonsense should start now to collaborate.

The colossal outrage of the UN sharing this photo on September 1st, 2019 of Indian troops in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is of a piece with the UN Democracy Fund accepting hush money from India on August 21st, sixteen days into the blockade.

But while we’re at it, let’s talk about how UN troops in DR Congo hold the record for rape & sexual assault of Congolese women & children–thousands of cases in the time UN forces have been deployed there. Is that why they sent women troops, hoping to lower the rape rate? Make it a ‘gentler, kinder’ kind of brutal occupation? Let’s talk about how UN troops to Haiti brought a cholera epidemic that made almost 900,000 people sick & killed almost 10,000 Haitians & then how the UN weaseled out of any responsibility for reparations? As if there were any way to make reparations for 10,000 family members.

So yeah, we get it. We get why the Indian Army has soldiers stationed in DR Congo. We just don’t get why the UN is so damn stupid that they would post these photos if not as a backhanded way to stand with India’s occupation of Kashmir.

Not trying to be ungracious when people ask me to donate to special causes, but my limited discretionary income goes primarily to Palestinian & Bhopal medical aid. If we can ever set up a fund for Kashmiri pellet victims, they would be included too. I’m not being stingy by not donating but choose to focus on medical needs for working people.

UPDATE: Facebook has deleted this video in a form of censorship that is entirely objectionable.

The Soura neighborhood of Srinagar, made a ‘no-go zone’ for Indian troops, erupts in protest after the death of their young boy from pellet injuries.

May that young boy Rest In Peace. Our fullest solidarity with the people of Soura & resistance in all of Kashmir.

For those in McAllen who want to honor #BoycottIndia, there are several shops in the downtown area & several in the upscale areas, most notably Namaste. Sprouts is also full of Indian products, including in the supplement & food sections. They’re good products but they’re associated with monstrous oppression of Kashmiris. Stand with justice & let Namaste & Sprouts know they’re under boycott.

Some will sincerely argue that #BoycottIndia will mainly hurt working people & the marginalized. Maybe they don’t know how capitalism works. It is absolutely certain that those who export & import Indian products are neither working people nor marginalized. But in India, it is militarism that most negatively affects working people & the marginalized. Who do they think India sends to Kashmir to terrorize the population? Who do they think will sustain all the consequences of being an occupying soldier committing monstrous human rights crimes against unarmed civilians, including women, children, elderly?

Remember those touching moments in 2017 when Bangladesh prime minister Sheikh Hasina toured the Rohingya refugee camps for a photo op doing the maternal thing of hugging little kids? That was after she ordered the border guards to keep fleeing Rohingya refugees out. She & her officials have been talking the voluntary repatriation thing for refugees either back to Arakan state into concentration camps with no rights or protection or to a concentration camp on a water-logged, uninhabitable island in the middle of nowhere. It was just a matter of time before that voluntary schtick became mandatory deportations for thousands of still-traumatized refugees.

Is it overwhelming for Bangladesh to manage nearly two million Rohingya refugees? Of course there are problems of integration & providing services like education, housing, medical care, employment. But the solution is not to deny them services or find a dumping ground for the Rohingya. The solution is to completely involve the Rohingya in addressing their conditions & the solutions they propose, politically to address the genocide, & to address their humanitarian crises.
